After 18 months of development, TEAM WAVE is pround to announce our latest generation of brushless motor - Eclipse. Eclipse aims at revolutionizing current brushless motor technology to bring extraordinary new features to RC enthusiasts all over the World.

LED Temperature Visualizing System

Motor temperature is one of the key factors affecting car performance. It has been pushed to the limits with the ever-advancing brushless speed controller and LiPo battery technology. Infra-red temperature gun has been the most common tool used by RC racers for monitoring this important parameter to protect the motor from over-heating and thus improving the overall performance of the car. However, the infra-red gun suffers from the following limitation:


1. The gun is only measuring the temperature of the motor can rather than the core temperature. The problem is further exaggerated by the common use of motor cooling fan.


2. Infra-red sensor is notoriously ineffective in measuring temperature of reflective surfaces (e.g. color in white / silver) - and that's probably one of the factors contributing to your burnt motor !


3. A high quality temperature gun is almost the price of a brushless motor and it may not be economical to own one.

ECLIPSE is equipped with the unique LED Temperature Visualizing System to provide instant temperature reading. A NTC temperature sensor is embedded to measure the core temperature. The reading is then presented through the differently colored LED distributed around the endbell as follow:

 

Flashing Blue: <50¢XC

Solid Blue: 50¢XC - 60¢XC

Flashing Green: 60¢XC - 70¢XC

Solid Green: 70¢XC - 80¢XC

Flashing Red: 80¢XC - 90¢XC

Solid Red: >90¢XC

Advanced Computer Aided Design

Eclipse was developed using advanced computer-aided design. All components were first designed in 3D space in order to see any mechanical violation and improvment possibility.

 

Rotor Design

The rotor used in Eclipse was specially designed for improved flexibility and user friendliness. Strong, high temperature type neodymium sintered magnet is used to give maximum power density. Each rotor is individually balanced to minimize vibration so as to withstand 100,000+ rpm!


Rotor information is laser-engraved on the shaft at the pinion area. For example, 125-R means 12.5mm magnet diameter with 7.2mm magnet inner diameter which fits the ROAR SPEC class.


The rotor design allows the use of shim to adjust the stator/rotor relative position in order to fine tune the motor performance.

Adjustable End Bell

With just 2 screws, the mechanical timing can be adjusted from -10 degree to +30 degree continuously with infinite fine-tuning capability.


The sensor connector is repositioned from the bottom of the end bell to the top in order to ease installation and keep it safe from scratching the ground.

Easy Solding PCB

Two U-tab opening PCB combined to maximize the wire contact area to improve power delivery and ease installation.
